Drop-in session on the Knightsbridge Place and Public Realm Strategy

An engagement drop-in event was held on 21st January to preview the strategy and gather feedback from the community.

Attendees had the opportunity to meet the design team and discuss the proposals, ensuring that the strategy reflects the needs and aspirations of local residents and businesses. The event was part of on on-going engagement with the community.

The Knightsbridge Partnership continues to listen to the community on transformative public realm proposals, aimed at restoring Knightsbridge as the world’s leading luxury destination and a premier place to live, work, and visit. The outline strategy, developed in collaboration with residents, community groups, local businesses, and public sector partners, focuses on enhancing pedestrian safety, supporting nature recovery, and creating attractive public spaces.

Key proposed enhancements include widened and decluttered footways, improved pedestrian crossings, and new green spaces. Notably, the Scotch House Corner junction, known for its very high collision rate, will see significant safety improvements. The introduction of biodiverse rain gardens and public art installations will further enhance the area’s aesthetic appeal, climate resilience and environmental sustainability.

Importantly, the outline proposals will ensure traffic flows on Brompton Road and residential streets from rat-running traffic.

The project is currently at RIBA Stage 3, which involves modelling of traffic movements and refining the outline design proposals.
