With neighbourhood police officers on the trot, a successful Day of Action around Hyde Park Corner, South Carriage Drive and Serpentine Road took place on Wednesday 20th August, with no crimes reported during the operation.
Bringing together officers from the Knightsbridge & Belgravia Neighbourhood Policing Team, the Safer Transport Team at Victoria, St James’s Ward, and mounted officers from Hyde Park Stables and Great Scotland Yard Stables, the operation focused on targeted patrols in known pickpocketing and robbery hotspots.
Some key wins from the day included:
- Zero thefts or robberies reported during the operation
- Two fixed penalty notices issued for cycling on the footway
- Advice and guidance given to individuals to promote safer behaviour
- A potential suspect on a bike spotted and circulated, preventing any incidents.
Councillor Rachael Robathan and Sarah Deighton from Westminster City Council joined PS Claire Napper in monitoring activity at the Serpentine Bar and Kitchen, helping to identify and deter table surfers. Chief Inspector Johnson also participated, patrolling alongside uniformed PCSOs and plain clothes officers who kept a close watch on high-risk zones.
The Knightsbridge Partnership played a vital role in the patrols by providing insights and intelligence from member businesses and the Safer Business Network.
This initiative is part of a growing series of partnered patrols aimed at tackling crime and enhancing community safety across the district. It demonstrates the positive impact of a visible police presence, and the power of partnership to keep our streets safe.
Together, we’re committed to supporting law enforcement, empowering local businesses, and ensuring the safety of residents and visitors alike.
