Felicity Buchan MP visits Knightsbridge

On Friday 30th June, Knightsbridge Partnership were pleased to welcome MP for Kensington, Felicity Buchan, to a walking tour of Knightsbridge. Felicity was also joined by Councillor Walaa Idris and Councillor Josh Rendall.

During the tour, Felicity heard from representatives from The Park Tower Casino, APML Estate, AlphaTauri, Harrods, Harvey Nichols and the Knightsbridge Association about the challenges and opportunities the district faces in its revitalisation.

Discussions were wide-ranging, but the key takeaways from a productive dialogue were:

  • The Government will give a fair hearing to data and evidence submitted in support of introducing tax free shopping. Knightsbridge Partnership are joining with other campaigning organisations to answer the call for evidence.

  • Felicity was impressed by the activities of Knightsbridge Partnership and wider community in addressing local safety and crime issues, but heard the concerns regarding a need for more visible police presence.

  • All agreed that Knightsbridge’s night time strategy would be beneficial in fuelling the district’s prosperity and vitality, but that it would be important to balance the needs of local businesses and local residents.

We were keen for Felicity’s visit to be insightful and productive and we were delighted that she was able to allocate time in her busy schedule to visit us. We look forward to updating Felicity on our numerous activities going forward.

A huge thank you to our wonderful businesses for their generous hospitality during Felicity’s visit, as well as for their continued dedication to collaborative working.
