Last week, the Met Police, working alongside partner agencies including Knightsbridge Partnership and Safer Business Network, carried out the first live Facial Recognition operation in Knightsbridge, reinforcing ongoing efforts to protect residents, visitors, and businesses.
There were already some strong early results from the first operation, including:
- Two suspects detained, including an individual recalled to prison and found in possession of a suitcase believed to contain Class A drugs.
- A further arrest of a suspect who failed to appear at court.
- A prolific beggar operating in the area was identified, with evidence passed to the local policing team for follow-up action.
The introduction of Facial Recognition represents a proactive approach to tackling serious and persistent offending. By helping police identify wanted individuals quickly and accurately, it supports safer streets and acts as a strong deterrent to criminal activity, giving residents, businesses, and visitors greater confidence in the safety of our area.
With early positive signs, we’re encouraged by the impact of this technology and will continue working closely with the Met Police to ensure it’s effective in keeping Knightsbridge safe and welcoming.
