On Tuesday 14 October 2025, Knightsbridge Partnership proudly unveiled its Place and Public Realm Strategy at the Pavilion Club, marking a milestone moment for one of London’s most iconic districts.
The event brought together our partners at Westminster City Council, Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, Transport for London, residents and community partners to celebrate the launch of what is currently the largest privately funded public realm project to be spearheaded by a Business Improvement District in the UK.
The strategy sets out a bold, inclusive vision for a cleaner, safer, greener, and unmistakably iconic Knightsbridge.
Howard Dawber, Deputy Mayor of London for Business and Growth shared his support for the strategy and how it fits into the wider London Growth Plan:
“Knightsbridge Partnership does vital work to support the area. Their healthy streets proposal will help ensure a thriving future, providing Londoners including local residents with a better, safer and cleaner environment, new jobs and new business opportunities, as well as work towards a fairer London for everyone.”
Patricia Brown, Director at Central and highly respected voice in the Public Realm space echoed her support for the strategy:
“Knightsbridge is globally recognised for its rich heritage and as an iconic destination, but it’s also a neighbourhood and home to many. The strategy acknowledges that these two identities must coexist seamlessly and sets out active stewardship with a long-term view, ensuring the area remains liveable, welcoming and unmistakably iconic well into the future.”
Our Chairman, Michael Ward, Managing Director at Harrods, spoke about the importance of this vision to the business community in Knightsbridge:
“The Strategy reimagines Brompton Road and many of the adjacent streets as safer, more sustainable and enjoyable routes and places for residents and workers, with less congestion, more trees and better air quality.”
Finally, our CEO, Steven Medway, reaffirmed our commitment to bringing the strategy to life through continued collaboration and a shared vision:
“Tonight isn’t the finish line, it’s the starting line. We’ve set out a bold, ambitious vision and now we’re working with our partners to prove it’s achievable.”
What the Strategy Delivers
The strategy was co-created with residents, businesses, TfL, Westminster City Council, and RBKC through extensive engagement. It includes:
- Widened and decluttered footways, inviting people to walk, dwell, enjoy the heritage and architecture of Knightsbridge and connect
- Over two thousand square metres of rain gardens and green spaces that soften the urban edge and support biodiversity
- Better traffic and safety management and highway design to ensure this key corridor continues to operate effectively
- It uses materials and design language that respect the character of the area.
- It engages with residents and Historic England, ensuring the needs of locals and heritage are not sidelined but fully embraced and celebrated.
Next Steps
This strategy is not a static document; it’s a call to action. Knightsbridge Partnership will continue working closely with local government, TfL, businesses, and the community to bring this vision to life.
