As we usher in 2025, I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to all our members, partners, and stakeholders who have been integral to the success of the Knightsbridge Partnership over the past year. Despite the backdrop of economic and political uncertainty, 2024 was a year of remarkable achievements for our district. Together, we fortified Knightsbridge’s standing as a leading international destination for luxury retail, culture, and hospitality. Let us reflect on our accomplishments and set our sights on the opportunities and challenges that 2025 will bring.
Reflecting on 2024: A Year of Growth and Resilience
Visitor Growth and Economic Impact: 2024 witnessed a significant surge in footfall, with over 40 million visits recorded during 2024, a 4.45% increase compared to the previous year. This growth underscores Knightsbridge’s enduring appeal to both domestic and international audiences.
Brand Building and Digital Engagement: Our digital presence flourished, achieving a 179% increase in website traffic and a 154% growth in Instagram followers compared to 2023. With over 14,000 subscribers to The Edit magazine and robust open and click-through rates, our communications platforms have proven to be invaluable tools for promoting member businesses and driving awareness of Knightsbridge as a global hub for luxury and culture.
Member Support and Satisfaction: The results of our 2024 annual survey revealed that 90% of members would recommend the Partnership to others, with 83% affirming a strong return on investment. These figures affirm our commitment to delivering tangible value to our members, from cost reduction initiatives saving an average of £31,475 per business to bespoke marketing campaigns, art installations and engagement events.
Sustainability and Crime Reduction: The Partnership has made great strides in environmental sustainability, hosting the second Sustainability Forum at Harvey Nichols and providing free energy assessments to members. On the security front, our Street Team recovered £26,000 worth of stolen goods and played a pivotal role in ensuring safety through initiatives like the plain-clothed security pilot helping arrest and sentence two of our prolific offenders.
Looking Ahead to 2025: Embracing Challenges and Opportunities
Economic Landscape and Retail Trends The UK economy is projected to face continued volatility in 2025, with inflationary pressures, evolving consumer behaviours, and geopolitical uncertainties shaping the retail and luxury sectors. While luxury retail remains resilient, the industry must adapt to shifts toward experiential offerings, sustainability, and digital-first strategies.
Knightsbridge is uniquely positioned to thrive amidst these changes. Our district’s focus on exceptional service, exclusivity, and innovation aligns with global trends favouring personalised experiences and ethical consumption.
Strategic Initiatives for 2025
- Transformational Public Realm Enhancements • We will advance with RIBA Stage 3 of the Place and Public Realm Strategy, supporting the Hans Crescent public realm improvements and thank RBKC for contributing £320,000 of NCIL; and support the 1 Knightsbridge Green proposed development. Supported by over £500,000 in voluntary contributions, the Place and Public Realm Strategy will enhance the district’s aesthetic and functional appeal, fostering a more welcoming environment for visitors and residents alike.
- Sustainability as a Core Pillar • Building on our 2024 achievements, we will host a third Sustainability Forum and expand member participation in energy-saving initiatives. Compliance with new legislation, such as the Simpler Recycling framework launching in March, and supporting our members improve their EPC ratings.
- Enhanced Security Measures • With the installation of additional CCTV cameras and the onboarding of a dedicated CCTV operator in April, we aim to further strengthen safety and reduce crime. The continuation of plain-clothed patrols and coordinated efforts with local authorities and Met Police will bolster these efforts even further.
- Innovative Marketing and Events • The Knightsbridge Edit will evolve, with plans to double subscriber growth and explore new digital channels, including TikTok. Events such as the Brands of Tomorrow series and partnerships like Salon Privé London 2025 will create fresh opportunities to showcase member businesses and drive footfall.
- Advocacy and Collaboration • In partnership with organisations like Walpole and New West End Company, we will advocate for policies that enhance Knightsbridge’s international competitiveness, including tax-free shopping and tourism growth strategies.
- Engaging with Uncertainty While 2025 presents a complex operating environment, our shared commitment to innovation, collaboration, and resilience equips us to navigate the challenges ahead. Knightsbridge’s status as a luxury retail and cultural destination gives us a competitive edge, but we must remain agile and proactive in our responses to economic and market shifts.
Conclusion: A Vision for Collective Success
The Knightsbridge Partnership’s mission is to create a thriving, sustainable, and inclusive district where businesses can flourish, and visitors feel inspired. This vision is achievable only through the active engagement and contributions of our members. As we embark on another year, I invite you all to continue collaborating with us to shape Knightsbridge’s future.
Thank you for your unwavering support and dedication. Here’s to a prosperous and impactful 2025.
Warm regards,
Steven Medway CEO, Knightsbridge Partnership
