I am delighted to welcome the new legislation announced in the King’s Speech today. The plans to enable the growth of high-quality infrastructure and housing are particularly promising. Our community stands to benefit greatly from these initiatives but remains challenging to deliver in central London.
The commitment to greater devolution is a significant step towards empowering the mayor and local government, allowing them tailor solutions to the unique needs and challenges that face London. Increased community policing and a stronger stance on shoplifting are vital measures that will help create a safer, more secure environment for visitors, workers, and residents alike.
However, while the direction of these plans is commendable, caution is necessary as we move forward as there are crucial issues facing many of our businesses that have not been included, a review of tax-free shopping and the reform of business rates and adequately resourcing the police.
We at the Partnership are ready and eager to collaborate with the government to refine these proposals.
We look forward to engaging in constructive dialogue and contributing to the successful realisation of these ambitious plans.
Steven Medway , Chief Executive.
